Deep Communities: social theatre training course in Valladolid
The Erasmus+, “Deep Communities”, aimed to strengthen local communities by empowering young people and supporting their role as change makers.
We have finished the training course «DEEP Communities», which took place in Valladolid from 11th – 18th of July. The project aimed to strengthen local communities by empowering young people and supporting their role as change makers.
15 educators and youth workers from Croatia – Udruga Prizma, Italy – Stranaidea, Portugal (Contextos y Juventude Vila Real de San Antonio) and Spain took part in this project. They were exploring the method „ social theatre” that allows to work with local communities in a creative and engaging manner!
First 2 days of the training course we had dedicated to get to know each other, our organizations and start to explore participatory installations and social theater as a tools in youth work.
On the 3rd day of the training course we visited neighbourhood La Rondilla in Valladolid. Varios social theater techniques were used in order to get to know and explore the neighbourhood. We were using our senses: sound, smell, eyes and participants were interviewing and communicating with local people. We visited also 2 neighbourhood organizations: Fundación Rondilla y Espacio Joven Norte.
We finished the training course with a wonderful event in one of the neighborhoods of Valladolid – La Rondilla. During the event participants created participatory installations, where everyone from the neighborhood was invited to take part. In these installations people could share their favourite place of the neighborhood, say thanks to their neighbours, write their dream and wish for the neighborhood etc. All materials that were gathered during the participatory installations were used to create the final theater performance.
After all this experience we could just say that it was truly inspiring and great to interact with local people from Rondilla!
After the final performance, participants closed the training course by visiting Zona Joven Pinar Valladolid – Spacio 3.14 where the Splora foundation runs its activities. They also worked on developing future ideas and integrating social theater in their activities.
The project is financed by the programme #ErasmusPlus.
